Zambia’s Leap Forward: Launching the Lusaka International Arbitration Centre

Zambia has been a hot spot of claims, whether political or commercial, for the past few years. Turning around the local economy and improving investor confidence, the country established new, quicker and more efficient means of dispute settlement.

The President of the Republic of Zambia, Mr. Hakainde Hichilema, officially launched the Lusaka International Arbitration Centre (LIAC) on 5 April 2024. This institution will provide immediate resolution of commercial disputes outside the courts of law. With the establishment of the Lusaka International Arbitration Centre, Zambia aims to position itself as a hub for dispute resolution in the region, potentially boosting its appeal as a destination for international business transactions. This move reflects Zambia’s commitment to enhancing its legal and commercial infrastructure to support economic development.

RA is excited to embrace this fresh avenue for resolving disputes.
